Maybe I'm just weird, but I don't see anything scary about this piece at all. It actually looks pleasant, like a smile in a dreary day. Or maybe it represents how we wear a mask of happiness, but hide complex emotions. Deeeeeep.

Or maybe the other interpretations are correct, and the person ripped someone else's smiling face off. O_O Whatever. . . D=
